Additional comments: Three of the Cardinals were seen smoking early in the movie. Later, during a scene in the Vatican archives, Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) asks a character if he smokes; after the character says that he does, Langdon tell him to sit down before he "keels over". That negative message is balanced just a few seconds later when Langdon tries to bribe the same character to translate for him in exchange for a pack of cigarettes!
